The Georgia State Beauty Culturist League, Inc. Convention, Seminar and Trade Show was held at the Doubletree by Hilton, 2651 Perimeter Pkwy., Augusta, GA. 30909.
Hats are off to Local President, Ms. Devette Green and the members of Central Savannah River Area Chapter (CSRA) for a job well done. This was indeed one of the most exciting and memorable conventions..
It started with the Fashion/Extravaganza, Saturday night. The outline was a Daddy/Daughter comb-out competition, GSBCL Coronation and culminated with Models of Fashions. A full and exciting evening to say the least.
Sunday Morning Worship did not fail us either, with the GSBCL Ministerial Staff leading us in worship and praise!! Praise dances were an extra surprise and enjoyed. Then Minister George Davis brought it home with an uplifting message from the Word of God!!
Its Sunday, but we have to go to class! Later that evening we experienced an exciting speaker, Ms. Margaret Tutt Adams at the President Awards Banquet. We had six community honorees and one special award to our National President, Dr. Katie B. Catalon.
Monday all day classes. The attendees were thoroughly engulfed with the knowledge of the instructors. Very, very informative. Classes were: Fading for the Future-Ari Joffrion, Working with Natural Hair-Design Essentials Educators Kimya Carter, Stephanie Davenport and Ereka Fielding, Hair Loss Replacement-Amber McCray and Beauty and Barbering Industry Forum-Tamara Johnson-Shealy of Politics Beauty and Barbering.
Monday evening was supposed to be our fun time Puttin' on the Hits but it was surprisingly turn into a farewell retirement party by Dr. Barbara Pressley for our State President of forty three years, Dr. Ruth C. Swint, and yes she was surprised!
Through out the convention, the vendors were busy show casing their products.
All and all another successful convention.
