Members,

The 80th State Convention was spot on. We opened with a great message at our Religious Retreat using our theme, “When It Seems to be Slipping Away…God is Doing a New Thing.” Our faith in the organization was renewed with hope and encouragement.

Students were interactive with hands-on instructions from the teachers and technicians. We were excited about learning new things, and those who are advanced were refreshed in areas of previous knowledge. The technology and product knowledge classes left students more confident in using their devices and the correct procedures in applying products. Life enhancements presentations on the needs of the beauty professionals were given by the B & W Insurance Group, including Beauty and Politics, which deals more with the state of the beauty industry. Thanks to the vendors with their unique products that caught the eyes of many and their purses.

The President’s Banquet was a stunning and eloquent night of fashions and awards. State President, Dr. Wilma R. Reeves, recognized individuals for their dedicated work to GSBCL and the community. A special award to Rev. Lois Searles, Banquet Speaker. This award paid homage to her brother, Dr. John Searles, Chemist/ Inventor/Founder of the Silk2 Hair System, Internet Technologist for the National Beauty Culturists’ League, Inc., and who formed the first e-commerce and Technology Team.

As the convention progressed, we enjoyed other events that produced several winners in each category. Congratulations to the winners!

GSBCL reestablished our connections with the past to catapult us into the future God is preparing for us. We are embraced by Jesus Christ, building on the foundation laid by our pioneers.

Thanks to the Decatur/Metro Beauty League for the hard work in making every event a revitalization of the old while implementing the future.

Members, you showed up and showed out! We give all the Honor and Glory to God in Jesus’s name for the great success of our 80th Convention, as we are directed by the Lord’s path for the 81st State Convention, 2027.
